Client Quick Help

Reschedule your biometrics appointment

USCIS now lets you reschedule your biometrics appointment online. Pick a time, date, and location through your myUSCIS account— with new slots available as soon as 12 hours from now.

⏱ Important deadline: Requests to reschedule through your USCIS online account must be made at least 12 hours before your scheduled appointment time. If your request is less than 12 hours from your appointment, or you have already missed your scheduled appointment, please call the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-5283 (TTY 800-767-1833) or chat with Emma, the USCIS computer-generated virtual assistant.

Provide a reason (Good Cause)

The system asks you to select a Good Cause reason. Common choices:

  • Work obligations
  • Major life events
  • Illness or medical
  • Travel

No supporting documentation is required—but answer truthfully, as USCIS keeps a record of all reschedule requests.

03

Pick your new time, date, and location

The online system gives you flexibility on:

  • Location: any Application Support Center (ASC)
  • Date: any available future date
  • Time: as early as 12 hours from now
04

Download the new appointment notice

USCIS issues a new Appointment Notice immediately after submission.

⚠️ The new notice is only available in the system for 45 days— download the PDF promptly, save a screenshot, and bring a printed copy to your ASC appointment.

05

When online rescheduling isn't available

Four situations require you to call USCIS instead:

  • You've already rescheduled twice—online option closed
  • You missed your original appointment—must call
  • Your form type is excluded—I-600, I-600A, I-800, I-800A
  • You can't articulate Good Cause—system will reject the request

Call the USCIS Contact Center:

Note: While USCIS doesn't require documentation, a no-show can lead USCIS to deem your application abandoned. If you have any uncertainty about the reschedule, consult your attorney before submitting—particularly if you're approaching the third reschedule.
